TRYST presents artists:
Nick Abrahams, Eric Wright, Andy Turner, Cathy Ward, Madge Gill & Madge Donohoe.
There will be special events & performances throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition TRYST is housed in the historic Conquest House, Canterbury, Kent dating from 1066. On show will be otherworldly drawings; symbolic corn & tree sculptures; banners; films featuring renowned folk singer Shirley Collins; nature soundscapes from the Tolpuddle Martyrs tree, under whose branches the first trade union in England met in 1834; magic lantern slides; recitals of traditional Kentish songs with archival photographs. Also rare skotographs by the spiritualist Madge Donohoe and drawings by the visionary, Madge Gill.
Each participant brings a particular view of the relation of individual memories with landscapes real or imagined.
