For Mrs Winston Churchill’s Aid to Russia Fund which raised in total £8 million by the end of the war
British artists that exhibited included household names such as Paul Nash, John Tunnard, Duncan Grant, Lowry and Augustus John, but it was Madge Gill whose calico artwork priced at £1000 was the most expensive work on display.
