Presenting the collection and history of Philippe Eternod and Jean-David Mermod.
LaM, Museum of Modern Art, Contemporary Art and Art Brut Villeneuve d’Ascq, Lille April 9 to September 25, 2011.
This exhibition and accompanying catalogue book tells the story of one of the most comprehensive collections of outsider art which began in 1987 from the passionate interest of two friends, Philippe Eternod and Jean-David Mermod. They bring into dialogue with verve and with equal consideration major and little-known artists of outsider art. This collection brings together more than 4,000 works, created by around sixty artists, a representative group of which appears in this show. The leaflet inserted in this book reproduces the entirety of the exceptional Cloisonné de théâtre by Aloïse Corbaz, a roll of paper 14 meters long which was displayed in the Venice Biennale 2024 (a small detail is shown below)
